Medisoft v21 Revenue Manager bug

Post by drk » Tue Mar 07, 2017 2:15 pm

If RM fails to unzip an 835/ERA file, it destroys the .zip file in the process and makes the archive invalid.

The normal behavior with zipped ERAs is that they are unzipped automatically by RM and the 835s displayed in bold font, ready to post.

Downloaded a zip file (from Optum Financial, for those who are interested). The zip file is fine, I can open it in Windows Explorer as well unzip programs. However, if I start RCM to post these ERAs, all I get is "Zip file archive" in the Reports window, and you cannot view this file in RCM.

Now, going back to the reports folder, I found that the zip file size has changed, and I can no longer open it. Windows as well as other unzip programs complain that the file is invalid.

Incidentally, this zip file had multiple nested folders in it, once I extracted all the 835s manually, I could post them without incident.

Where does one file a bug report for Medisoft/Revenue Manager?

You may be on to something with the nested files in the zip. Revenue Manager may not be able to handle that. Does Optum have any options for that? I am doubtful EMDs will make any changes specific for Optum since Trizetto and RelayHealth are their "supported" clearinghouses.

I don't believe so. Since Optum aggregates multiple payers into one zip file, there is a top level zip file that contains a folder for each payer (by payer ID) and the 835s are inside this subfolder.

Guess I'm stuck with manual unzipping. However, Revenue Manager MUST NOT DESTROY THE ZIP FILE in the process of reading it, even if it is unprocessable. That, IMO, is a bug.

Does Optum have options to do one remit file per payer or check and/or an option whether or not to zip the file? The files are so tiny, zipping is not going to make much of a difference.

Yes, you can download one payer at a time, but it gets very cumbersome due to the number of payers. In any case, I will check if your suggestion makes a difference. For now, I am downloading in bulk and manually parsing it.
