24E diagnosis pointer change to alpha from numeric V18

Post by Hearmel » Wed Apr 23, 2014 12:46 pm

Running Medisoft V18. With ICD-10 new HCFA box 24E requires a letter, not a number identifying the diagnosis with the code on that line. How can i change to letters?

We recommend Medisoft v19 which supports this and the new CMS-1500 2/12 claim form.

I am using 12 DX per claim and using different DX pointers for each line item. But when printing the claim by paper in CMS 1500 02/12 form the BOX 24E not printing (E to L) DX pointers, Its only printing A to D pointers checked in DX pointer.

I'm running v20 Advanced & am getting numbers instead of letters when running testing. What setting do I have wrong?

You need to pick a report template with 2/12 in its name to print the new claim form. If you are using a custom report template, you need to start with one that has 2/12 in its name before you start making your modifications.

well, I'm not actually printing.. I'm uploading the print image to OfficeAlly, my clearinghouse. I don't think I have image control in that circumstance. I guess I need to start using the ANSI 837 (5010) format to upload to OfficeAlly?

Print image was not updated for the CMS-1500 2/12 form. You need to switch to ANSI 5010 claims using Revenue Management. Get with a Medisoft re-seller who can set this up for you. We currently charge $150 to setup the first practice to Office Ally for electronic claims.

Can somebody help me with the following issue.
I'm running Medisoft 19 SP1 (19.1.3.38) and I'm not able to modify a CMS 1500 02/12 form or report to print Dx pointers from E to L ( 5 to 12) in the box 24E. When you insert a "Data Field" object and try to add a new Dx pointer in the Data Field Properties from Transaction.Dxpointer#, you only see Dxpointer 1 to 4, there is not 5 to 12 to select from. I also tried another way: if Transaction.Diagnosis_5 = "1" then print "A", I repeated this line 12 times from A to L and still not able to print more than four Dx pointers in box 24E (CMS 1500 02/12).

The field names in the database are still named 1-12 because Medisoft used to support and still does support printing the old CMS-1500 8/05 claim forms. I would suggest that you look at CMS-1500 (Primary) 2/12 template that came with Medisoft to see how the diagnosis codes are done in that report. Or, it will probably be easier to start with that report template and re-do any configurations that you have done previously.

Gavin W. , thank you for the quick replay.
I've been trying with the CMS-1500 2/12 primary template but we only have 4 properties: Dxpointer1, Dxpointer2, Dxpointer3, Dxpointer4 to choose from in Transaction / Fields, there are not Dxpointer5 to 12 available to choose from.
What do you think about that. Is there any way to add those needed DxPointers to the Report Designer?

Gavin (or another forum member) can you give me an example of the expression that I have to write to be able to print Dxpointer 5 (or E)?.

While looking at box 24E in the paper form CMS1500 2/12, I found that if you use 12 ICD-10 codes there is not space for 12 (ABCDEFGHIJKL) DxPointers in it, so what is the solution for that?

We haven't come up with a solution for this in Medisoft v18. While you can have 12 dx codes on a claim, you are only allowed 4 pointers on any charge line.
