Medisoft Won’t Restore to New Server

Post by blueit » Mon Nov 20, 2023 2:48 pm

Hello,

I am working to migrate Medisoft Office Hours v20 to a new server and am having issues restoring the database backup from the old server.

When I restore the database from backup/when I launch Office Hours with the copied data, I get the error message “tblView: Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset”

I’ve scoured the internet and these forums but nothing seems to help.
I’ve tried using a backup taken from Office Hours on the old server, also using the scheduler and then tried copying all the data over from the Medidata folder after stopping the Advantage database - all give the same result.
I also saw a discussion where it was suggested renaming the backup file to a .zip. Doing this and copying the zip contents over didn’t work either.

The new server has a different name and medidata is stored on the C drive instead of the D drive as it is on the old server.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Which edition of Office Hours to you have? Client Server or Basic? Did you install Advantage Database Server?
